Selsø Castle
Summer Concerts - for the ear,
eye & mind
Since
1983 I have been the artistic director and Artist in Residence
of
the concerts at Selsø Castle.
A concert in the great hall is always a special experience,
and
the
beautiful baroque hall from 1734 with the
4 m high wooden panels and large wall paintings by the Court painter Hendrick Krock
and ceiling stucco by the famous Italian masters
the Brenno Brothers is
well-known
for its fine acoustics.
In the hall there also are 2
Versailles mirrors signed Garnier et Bonnemain,
Paris 1733. When
darkness comes, the hall is illuminated by candle light as the castle has no
electricity installed. In the oldest Danish manor house kitchen with an open
fireplace in the cellar it is possible to enjoy a glass of well temperate
wine from the wine cellar of the castle
during the interval.
8 to 10 concerts will be organized from from June to September.

In 1983 Selsø Castle received a Europa Nostra
diploma for its gentle restoration.
